Identifying a Mundia doll
Mundia deliberately positioned themselves within the tradition of bisque dolls, dressed in luxurious and sophisticated clothes that directly call on the skills and know-how of French haute couture. Examples from the past prove that we have been right to make this choice : look at the prices paid by collectors for dolls made by JUMEAU and BRU, who were famous for the haute couture costumes worn by their dolls and which are now the most sought after in the world. Similarly, dolls by Albert Marque, another name well-known to collectors, have reached astonishing prices, particularly his dolls dressed by WORTH, one of the first haute couture houses to open in Paris.
Mundia background
They do their utmost, for all their dolls, to offer an original sculpture created by a true artist, and to create a costume which can give rise to the same admiration and dreams as those invoked by an haute couture dress at a reasonable price. The manufacturing unit where the clothes for the Rve de Porcelaine (Porcelain Dream) dolls are produced right from the beginning, the regular training of the seamstresses who work in the unit, the modeling and final touches to the clothes applied by a chief assistant from a Paris haute couture house, and, last but not least, our family tradition of passionate interest in porcelain dolls and in haute couture, are all elements which help distinguish Rve de Porcelaine dolls from other dolls so that they stand out for their beautifully worked costumes alone..... Each year our new collection includes special limited edition dolls. However, since the fabrics are manufactured for only one haute couture season, most of the other dolls are therefore manufactured for only one year too.
